HIGH SCHOOL ELECTIVES LAA Choraleo Mixed Chorus - ½ unit/semester In our high school choir, students learn and develop skills in vocal performance skills, musical leadership, choral ensemble, and sight-reading using solfege. We lead worship services at area churches, participate in festivals, and offer two annual concerts, Christmas and Spring. Conveying the message in our music is a major focus of the class, and so attendance and engaged participation are a major part of the student's grade. A highlight of the year is our spring tour (we visit places like Seattle, the Oregon coast, Northern California). We come together to create a community of singers and build lifelong positive vocal and spiritual habits. Ossia Vocal octet-by audition - 1 unit/semester Ossia is a select chorus of 8 people. The name Ossia means "alternative passage which may be played instead of the original passage," which is appropriate to the group's focus--to perform choral music that is different, fresh, and new. Members of Ossia work together to perform music that is largely a capella, which offers a challenge beyond the average singer. All singers in Ossia will also sing in Choraleo. Members learn and develop techniques for microphone and "unplugged" singing. As a choral group that performs regularly, membership in Ossia requires a year-long commitment and a dedication to personal vocal health. AURORA High School Handbells - ½ unit/semester LAA Aurora is Livingstone's handbell group. Members of the group are responsible for anywhere between 3-8 bells. The group consists of 12-13 students. Students in handbells are expected to have a certain level of understanding of music reading and theory. It is very helpful if students have had piano instruction. Students read and identify music notation, follow the director in dynamics and tempo, use a variety of ringing techniques (such as malleting, martellato, singing bell, etc.). The handbell group performs in a variety of venues, including schools, churches, and Silver Falls State Park. Music at churches is a major outreach opportunity for students. Group members also enjoy attending handbell festivals, where they play with other schools. Robotics - ½ unit/semester Students focus on understanding the concept of gracious professionalism. They will participate in "First Robotics", which is a nation-wide robotics competition. They will learn how to design, build, and program a robot. Students will learn how to design and print parts with a 3d printer as well as many other assembly methods. Gardening - ½ unit/semester Students will learn and participate in planing, preparing, growing ,and maintaining a productive garden/industry. Fitness - ½ unit/semester Get in shape and participate in a triatholon. Yearbook - ½ unit/semester This class is a practical art and will help students learn skills for the workplace, specifically in design. Students learn how to do layouts, photography, and some videography. Software such as Lumapix, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Indesign software.

ATHLETICS Core Values Mark 12:30-31 – “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” An intentional relationship with Christ includes: Character – Value and love who you are in Christ Community – Value and love your neighbor Championships – Strive for excellence Everyone can be a leader in some capacity. Too often, an individual isn't given the tools to be a leader within their sphere of influence. Our vision is to equip each athlete with the tools to be a leader and create an atmosphere within our athletics program that fosters the use of those tools. We will teach our Core Values by placing students in positions where they can choose to grow and succeed. • Service | Livingstone

SERVICE Community Service Days Elementary School - Monthly 1st Wednesday. High School - Monthly 3rd Tuesday At Livingstone Adventist Academy we believe in the active power of faith. Jesus calls us to exercise our faith through service. We believe that service grows your faith and changes your life. Surely the words of Christ to His disciples in Matthew 25 were to take care of those less fortunate or who are in need. May we all live up to that example! Costa Rica Senior class trip every year during Spring Break. Since 2005, the graduating classes at Livingstone have chosen to utilize their senior class trips in ways that serves others. Most recently, these service trips have taken place in Southern Costa Rica on the Osa Peninsula. Before and during our Spring Break of 2016, we will continue to work alongside a Costa Rican SDA church to continue the building of an Adventist educational center of learning that was started in 2009 by previous seniors. While in Costa Rica, we plan to divide our time between community outreach, assisting the local members in continuing the building of the new Adventist school, and sharing testimonies with the local people (as well as practicing our Spanish). This is a tremendous opportunity for us to share our Christian faith with others who live in an environment that is very different from what we are accustomed to. Donate Today
